The mission of the Athens State University Regional In-Service Center is to serve our systems by encouraging growth opportunities for teachers that ensure success for all students.
History
The Athens State University Regional In-Service Center was established by the Alabama Legislature in 1984-85 as one of eleven regional in-service centers in the state. These centers represent partnerships between higher education and the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) to serve the professional learning needs of Alabama’s public schools.

Associated Programs and Initiatives
The Center works in conjunction with the Division of Teaching and Learning through the Alabama State Department of Education.
These programs offer support and training to the region’s educators to enhance student learning in the areas of math, science, and technology.
